A guest from Regis and Kelly, Canadian Mayor Hazel McCallion, blames media for Gabrielle Giffords Tuscon massacre shooting
“Often the press is out to cause controversy and I think what happened in the United States was a good example of the press building animosity against politicians and government and I hope that there’ll be some good that’ll come out of what has happened.”
-Quote by Toronto Regional Mayor of Mississauga Hazel McCallion, speaking to Amber Gero, CFRB Radio Reporter, Jan 11, 2011, mere days after the USA Representative Gabrielle Giffords shooting
A Toronto, Canada regional Mayor who was mentioned on the Regis and Kelly show, Mayor Hazel McCallion, blames the media for stirring controversy which leads to events like the Gifford shooting in Tuscon!
Politicians seem to be competing to see who can say the most distasteful, illogical, partisan comments referencing the tragic shooting massacre and shooting of Gabrille Giffords.
Trying to deflect criticism against the use of taxpayer money for the Mayor Hazel McCallion’s own upcoming birthday event, Mayor McCallion banned the media for stirring controversy, that lead to the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords.
A Toronto radio reporter, Amber Gero, CFRB, questioning Mayor McCallion on government spending abuses got the distasteful comment by the Mayor, basically blaming the media for the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, ie, for causing animosity against politicians!
Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion is the city immediately adjacent to Canada’s largest city, Toronto. The city of Mississauga is paying for $350 tickets for politicians and senior bureaucrats to attend Mayor McCallion’s birthday event; while taxpayers are facing an 8% property tax increase.
Mayor McCallion incredibly used the shooting of American politician, Gabrielle Giffords, to try to justify her public birthday party gala.
Ironically, Philbin Regis from Live with Regis and Kelly, was brought up to be a celebrity performer at Mayor McCallion’s 22nd annual Mayor’s Gala, on November 8, 2008.
It’s disgusting to see politicians defend their own problems, using the tragic shooting of American Representative Gabrielle Giffords.
But this appears to be the first time that a politician in Canada has accused the media of a role in the Giffords shooting!
