Liberal Party Leader Michael Ignatieff gets new job position, only 3 days after unprecedented election loss –decimation?!– of his Liberal Party in 2011 Canadian federal election.
May 5, 2011 — Michael Ignatieff lead the Liberal Party of Canada to its greatest loss in history, on May 2, 2011; reducing Canada’s oldest registered federal political party to third place –for the first time in Canadian history! The Liberal Party was reduced to 34 seats in Parliament from 77, in a Parliament of 308 seats.
Jack Layton is the leader of the NDP, the New Democratic Party, that took second place for the first time in Canadian history. A few days before the election, Canada’s largest newspaper group, the Toronto Sun and Sun Media, reported that Jack Layton had been a found-in at a brothel in Toronto’s Chinatown, with a reputation for underaged Asian prostitutes. No charges were “laid” in the matter in 1996, and Jack Layton, his wife, MP Olivia Chow, and the NDP went into crisis management mode; stating Layton was receiving legitimate massage therapy… The brothel was known to Toronto Police, and was named the “Velvet Touch.” So quite incredibly sad that Jack Layton and Olivia Chow and the NDP claim that Jack Layton did NOT know the reputation of the Velvet Touch brothel.
Be assured, the private sex life of Jack Layton and Olivia Chow is NOT the issue. At issue here, is that Jack Layton, Olivia Chow and the NDP claim leadership in such issues as homeless the vulnerable, women’s rights; fighting against the exploitation of women, children and sex workers.
If the Toronto Sun story is true of Jack Layton being a NAKED found-in, in a brothel, Jack Layton, Olivia Chow and the NDP are once again enormous hypocrites.
By the way, please see the original Toronto Sun article, breaking the Jack Layton story, April 29, 2011: http://www.torontosun.com/2011/04/29/layton-found-in-toronto-bawdy-house-former-cop
This is the same Jack Layton and Olivia Chow that call themselves the champions of the needy and the vulnerable, while also having amongst the largest expense claims as Canadian federal politicians, Members of Parliament, MP.
Canadians and people around the world must wonder about such politicians as Jack Layton and Olivia Chow. And now Michael Ignatieff! It was just announced –3 days after the Canadian 2011 federal election– that Ignatieff is has a new, cushy job position. Imagine, Ignatieff gets a big fancy job, within days of leading Canada’s oldest party to decimation in the recent election of May 2, 2011, with the Liberal Party finishing third, for the first time ever in Canadian history; with only 18% of the vote. Entering the election with 77 seats, and surviving with only 34 seats to Parliament.
If only regular Canadians and people could get a sliver of such opportunity!?
NDP Leader Jack Layton, becomes the second ranked party, the “Official Opposition,” with 102 seats and over 30% of the vote. Election night, Ignatieff offered to stay on as Liberal Party Leader, but by the next morning, he announced his resignation as Liberal leader on May 3, 2011.
Within 2 days of his resignation, Michael Ignatieff was appointed senior Resident at the University of Toronto, at the respected Massey College.
Nice reward for the worst result by his political party in Canadian history. Also, Ignatieff lost his own seat in the May 2, 2011 election.
In Canada, it seems that being a found-in a brothel, and/or losing elections qualify you for postings at University of Toronto, or as Leader of the Opposition?!
Ironically, one of the issues that Michael Ignatieff could not overcome was his reputation as an academic, out of touch, haughty, elitist. Also, that Ignatieff had lived outside of Canada, over 30 years. Critics questioned Michael Ignatief’s patriotism, his commitment to Canada. Heightening this image was many examples where he referred to himself as an American, and then the recent April 2011 discovery that Michael Ignatieff’s wife, Zsuzsanna Zsohar, was not a Canadian citizen; and thus, the wife of the Liberal Party leader of Canada, was NOT eligible to vote in the Canadian election.
Incredible that such people are the political leaders of a country. Sadly, such people are the leaders of Canada today.
Such elitist leaders as Michael Ignatieff, Jack Layton and Olivia Chow, the Liberals of Canada, and the NDP, successfully blocked the Green Party of Canada, from participating in the one national leaders debate. Luckily, the people of Canada reacted by voting that missing leader, Elizabeth May, the leader of Green Party of Canada, into Parliament –making her, the first Green to be elected in Canadian history, though she was considered unworthy by the national Canadian media, to be a debate participant.
Ironically, the recent unprecedented, inspiring peoples movements in 2011, in the Middle East, Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya may have reached the declining democracy of Canada.
There is great hope, at least, with the decimation of the Liberal Party of Canada on May 2, 2011. The people of Canada and the world, hopefully, are awakening to the dangers, corruption, waste and arrogance of the ruling elitist of Canada and the world.
